Jay Knorr gives video tours of our Alabama new construction homes on SocialCam!

We are proud of the wide variety of virtual full video tours of our Alabama new construction homes on YouTube, and we are happy to share that we have a number of additional guerrilla-style virtual tours now available. Agent Jay Knorr of Stone Creek has been shooting a growing library of short hand-held tours of homes in Stone Creek and Piney Woods, with more communities coming soon on SocialCam.

The videos are taken by iPhone. So while they are a little shaky, they are a great chance to see our homes unfiltered and on the go. If you see things you like or have questions about, it is easy to call the community agent and ask questions or schedule an appointment so that you can see the whole home for yourself! The videos are narrated by Jay, and he is one of the best in the business when it comes to explaining the qualities of Geordan homes. (more…)

Spend a great Saturday exploring our Waterscapes community and then a night of great food at the Alabama All Star Food Fesitval!

Continuing the great events around our Alabama new homes communities, the first annual Alabama All Star Food Festival is this Saturday in downtown Montgomery and is only a short drive from our new Waterscapes community. This is a great chance to explore the Waterscapes sales center and units under construction before heading over to enjoy some great southern food and music. The Festival takes place from 3 to 7 p.m. this Saturday, May 12. Tickets are available online and at the door.

The Alabama All Star Food Festival is a chance to join chefs, farmers, breweries and musicians from across the state in celebrating the best in local cuisine. While there, you can enjoy tastings from featured restaurants using locally-sourced ingredients, meet your favorite Alabama chefs, listen to the state’s best homegrown musicians, catch a variety of on-stage demos and take part in hands-on gardening and nutrition workshops. The festival promises to be Alabama food, drink and music at its finest, so don’t miss this first event and get in on the ground floor! (more…)

Auburn University has recently been recognized as a great college community for adults and we have the best new construction homes there.

Auburn was recently featured on MSN.com in its list of the Best college-town neighborhoods for adults, which is no surprise to residents of our convenient Auburn new construction homes. This list is composed of ten communities with the best of college life, measuring eclectic culture, brainiac banter and sports cheers with the amenities that make communities appealing for adults. Of primary importance for this list were low crime rates, where Auburn is far below the national average. Additionally, the list only chose places that didn’t suffer from congestion or overcrowding, and have populations under 100,000. (more…)

AprilFest, a celebration of local craft beer and excellent food, is this Friday!

Residents and house hunters of our Auburn new construction homes have another fun event in their area to enjoy, a festival of spring flavors. The second annual AprilFest is set for this Friday, April 27 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Terrace Room at the Hotel at Auburn University. A play on OcotoberFest, AprilFest is a wonderful chance to enjoy craft beers, delicious food and live entertainment with a flair and taste profile for spring rather than autumn.

Craft beer enthusiasts can gather in the Terrace Room and around the pool to sample 24 craft beers paired with delicious dishes created by Chef de Cuisine of Ariccia, Leonardo Maurelli III. Musical entertainment will be provided by Patrick Bruce. Attendees can also watch live cooking demonstrations and meet the hotel’s culinary team to learn a few new techniques and dishes to pair with their own beer preferences. (more…)

We talk a lot about the touches that make our Alabama New Construction Homes stand out, like options for fully upgraded models, upgrades coming standard and great incentives like our current $5,000 allowance. It is easy to talk about the big things like that, but we also put other touches into making our homes the best on the market that aren’t immediately obvious but are greatly enjoyed by our buyers.

One way that we make our homes more complete than any other builder in Alabama is that we add blinds to most windows throughout our homes. We do this to provide an added service to our buyers as well as to protect homes, where direct sunlight can fade colors from our carefully designed interiors. After purchase, the blinds offer privacy for when you first move in, help regulate interior temperature by controlling the amount of light allowed in and can offer health benefits like reducing eye strain and headaches. We choose blinds that are neutral and can work with the interiors designed by our top notch decorators or with the color scheme you choose if you are interested in a home under construction or a pre-sale. Don't Miss the On the Tracks Festival in Historic Opelika on April 20

There’s another great event coming up for both residents of and prospective buyers of our Opelika New Construction Homes. It is the 13^th biannual On the Tracks Food and Wine event, and it promises to be a fun evening for all on April 20 from 6 to 11 p.m.

This festival will turn Historic Opelika into a grand bazaar, with food vendors lining the street, musicians performing in the middle of Railroad Avenue and a wine tasting trail leading participants through local shops and art galleries. The event draws hundreds twice a year and is a great chance to explore all that downtown historic Opelika has to offer. Food and beverages are priced by vendor, and the wine walk/tour of shops and galleries is only $25. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. The list of participating restaurants, shops and bands is growing and they are taking recommendations. We are planning amenities for Waterscapes and want to know how important a playground is for our Pike Road community!

We are working hard to make our new Pike Road community, Waterscapes, be the best it can. This means combining the award-winning home plans with the local amenities which will make the community a must buy. While we will soon have more information about the many home plans we will be offering at Waterscapes, ranging from 2,500 to 3,754 square feet, we are excited to share the plans for local fun.

At the moment, we are planning to include a pavilion, three fishing ponds and a youth size soccer field. We are contemplating adding a playground, so if you are looking for a new home in the Pike Road area and a playground is an important buying amenity, let us know below in the comments or on the Geordan Communities Facebook page! We are working on putting together the community layout which will be available at the mobile sales center in the next couple of weeks, so there is plenty of time to make changes to include a playground if that is what the community wants. WE're proud that so many of our gorgeous new construction homes have sold in the first quarter of 2012!

We are proud to announce that we’ve had an amazing quarter for our Alabama new construction homes! When we revealed that we had 30 homes on market for the spring buyer season, we were sure that we would have many opportunities for buyers. We didn’t expect to have 24 contracts so quickly. We are now working on breaking new ground across all of our communities to accommodate the ready, willing and able homebuyers who are coming to us in droves.

The big winner when it comes to new homes put under contract is our Tivoli community, with six contracts. Though, Southern Hills is just behind with five. Halls Creek and Stone Creek had three each. Wyndham Gates and Cypress Glade both had two homes. The Cotswolds, Piney Woods and The Preserve all had one go under contract. We are happy to be providing these new homeowners excellent living spaces and the continued support of the Geordan Lifestyles program for added convenience. (more…)
